Hi, I’m Steph — website designer at The Tenth House. My approach to website design is holistic, multi-layered, and rooted in my desire to help people cultivate self-awareness, embrace their uniqueness, express themselves, and expand into their infinite potential through business and entrepreneurship.

When it comes to website design, I respect and utilize some industry standards and familiar ways of doing things (and the ease of use they bring to the user experience) but I’m also not afraid to ask “why” and challenge the way things are traditionally done in order to build something from the ground up that feels authentically expressive, resonates with your ideal customers & clients, provides your desired client/customer service, and helps you achieve your business goals.

When people visit your website, I want them to experience it as if they are walking into your home or place of business, where they can immediately feel your brand energy and intuitively know if they resonate with you and your business. Then, as if they were getting a guided tour of your space, I want them to explore your site with ease and curiosity, receive the information that you want them to have about your business and offerings, and feel immersed in your brand world.

To achieve this with the websites that I design and develop, I start by confirming that we have a strong brand foundation to build on, and then I ensure that every design decision is reflective of your brand energy, personality, values, ethics, philosophy, vision, mission, and goals — from site structure & layout, to how the website looks, sounds, and feels.

Personally, I have an appreciation for brutalist and midcentury modern, Japanese, Scandinavian, and Spanish architecture & interior design, art & design that use a juxtaposition of materials, editorial graphic design, and vintage analog designs from days past. But what I love about designing for other people and businesses is that I get to put myself in their shoes, immerse myself in their brand, and translate their authentic style and taste into digital form.

When it comes to my client work, my website designs are strategic, organized, user-friendly, and intentionally edited for a more minimalist look, but I purposely don’t have a signature style. I don’t want people to visit your website and immediately know who designed it — I want them to visit your digital space and get to know the people and business that operate there.

I created The Tenth House to serve all sorts of open-minded people from diverse backgrounds and industries, but I’ve got a special place in my heart for the artists, the healers, the creatives, the multi-passionate individuals, the non-conforming queer folk, the visionary entrepreneurs, and the scrappy do-it-yourselfers.

My website design method creates websites that are unique, authentic, and completely custom to each client. What this requires though, is active participation from each client throughout our collaboration. But don’t worry, if we work together, you will be guided, coached, and supported every step of the way.

With that being said, if you have no interest in answering introspective questions or providing information about how you want your website to look, feel, and function, we might not be a good fit.

Ultimately, if you are a kind person who resonates with my method, we are probably going to get along, but just to make sure, we will have an intro call as part of the project application process.
